From July 24 to August 5, Kutaisi will host a public art festival. The idea of creating the Kutaisi Public Art Festival is linked to the development of the Kutaisi Culture Development Strategy (CDS), prepared in 2022-2023 by Kutaisi City Municipality within the framework of EU-funded project EU4Culture project. The festival aims to promote the development of public art and foster open creative processes in the city, establishing the foundation for the future development of the creative and cultural industries in the region. The vision of the festival focuses on forming a dynamic cultural ecosystem that will enhance wider public access to cultural activities, and have a positive impact on the harmonious and sustainable urban, social, and economic development of the city.
The inaugural edition of the Kutaisi Public Art Festival encompasses various creative fields, including contemporary visual art, audio-visual and contemporary choreography performances, and literary events, all accompanied by an intensive educational program. The events scheduled in the program of the festival will be presented in various public spaces throughout the city over the course of 11 days. Additionally, literature, text, and storytelling are significant components of this year’s edition, as Kutaisi joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2023 under the designation of a City of Literature.
The Kutaisi Public Art Festival is being realized by Kutaisi City Hall together with the organizations Platform for Changes and Culture & Management Laboratory within the framework of the EU-funded project EU4Culture.
